Tybee Attractions

Tybee's Beautiful Beaches:

Tybee's beaches are said to be our main attraction!  There are 3 miles of beaches.  The North Beach goes from the mouth of the Savannah River to Fort Screven.  On this part of the beach, you can see international ships traveling into Savannah's Ports, the Tybee Lighthouse & Museum and also Cockspur Lighthouse.  We also have what some call the Mid-Beach from 1st street (the big curve) to 14th St.  This part of the beach is usually less crowded and can be accessed by crossovers at every street.  Then there is the South Beach, which goes from 14th St to 19th St.  This part of the beach is located at Tybee's main business district and is the most populated.  On this beach, you are also permitted to surf or you can visit Tybee's own Pier & Pavillion!

Tybee Lighthouse and Museum:

Tybee's Lighthouse is Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse!  The Museum was established in 1961 to interpret the rich history of Tybee Island.

Cockspur Lighthouse:

The Cockspur Lighthouse was built between March 1837 and November 1839.  The National Park Service is dedicated to the preservation of this historic marker.  The lighthouse remains open to the public, though access is limited by the terrain of Cockspur Island.  However, an overlook trail offers visitors the best chance to get a closer look at the lighthouse today.

Tybee Island Pier & Pavillion:

Tybee's Pier & Pavillion is located at the end of Tybrisa St.  It is a great spot for fishing, entertainment, & has a great view of the Atlantic Ocean and the South Beach.  On special occasions, there will be live entertainment with dances or other special events.  The pavillion provides public restrooms, a snack bar & picnic tables.  It is open daily and free to the public!
